Jewels Leading Lights Academy Partners in Successful International Family Day 2025, Promotes Inclusion and Special Needs Awareness.

Jewels Leading Lights Academy, in collaboration with Jewels Leading Lights Foundation, hosted the impactful International Family Day 2025 on May 15th at its Lifecamp campus in Abuja. The event brought together parents, educators, special needs advocates, and community organizations for a day of reflection, celebration, and advocacy—reinforcing the school’s long-standing commitment to inclusive education in Nigeria.

Under the theme “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development,” the event focused on addressing the challenges faced by families raising children with special needs and promoting a supportive environment where every child can thrive.

As a school known for integrating inclusive practices, Jewels Leading Lights Academy proudly contributed to the planning and hosting of the event. The school’s special needs department was visibly represented, and staff provided support across logistics, childcare, and coordination.

One of the highlights of the day was the “Emotional Heroes” session, where parents courageously shared real-life experiences raising children with developmental disorders such as autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. Their testimonies underscored the importance of early intervention, community support, and inclusive school systems.

The keynote speaker, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oboh, Director of Jewels Leading Lights Foundation, called for concrete policy action—advocating for mandatory early developmental screening at primary healthcare centres and caregiver support policies that offer flexible work options for parents of special needs children. These proposed reforms echo best practices in inclusive education globally, and reinforce the Academy’s philosophy that no child should be left behind.

As part of the event, the school witnessed the official launch of “Perfectly Made: A Reflection Through The Lens of God’s Image,” a beautifully illustrated storybook celebrating the uniqueness of special needs children. The book is now being distributed through the Foundation’s 2000-Book Donation Campaign, targeting special needs children across Nigeria.

The day was filled with support and joy as Spa Wellness provided on-site massage therapy to parents, and raffle draw gifts—including beauty and self-care services from Tee Richards Beauty and Private Spring Spa (PSS)—were awarded to lucky winners.

Delegates from Safe Haven Foundation and No Hunger Food Bank also joined the celebration, while major media outlets such as NTA, Radio Nigeria, and Silverbird TV covered the event, amplifying its message and reach.

As a school committed to developing confident, patriotic, and compassionate leaders, Jewels Leading Lights Academy is proud to be at the forefront of promoting inclusive learning, character education, and family empowerment.
